as in I'm a push-over for drippy romantic stories!

I was sniffing around BBC 7 looking for something to listen to and what did I stumble on? The Christopher Marlowe mysteries. And here's me thinking they'd be *real* mysteries with Shakespeare's rival as the lead. I wish! and besides, I've always liked that name... I'm hopeless.

So I switch on, and the first line I hear is "My name is Marlowe. christopher Marlowe. My friends call me Kit, my enemies call me... trouble." and I'll admit here and now that Kit Marlowe sounds sharding wonderful from over here, and my brain immediately starts going on how you'd get Kit out of christopher and that it must have been an old-fashioned name shift... but anyway. Amateur folk linguist=me.

So I'm hooked. And it isn't until about two minutes in that I realize aw *shard it*! It's a satire! Damn!

What clinched it was the image of a traveling doctor on a carriage bound for London and a rather *gag* gruesome image that started out sounding realistic but ended up dis*gus*ting! I say again, damn!

*Blush* sorry. I'm rambling. But I'm also annoyed. BBC 7 one, hopeless romantic charlie resoundingly nill. Blah. :/

I'm tempted to write a *real* Kit Marlowe mystery or three now...

Why does "Kit Marlowe" sound so familiar to me . . . like I really should know that name from somewhere. Hmm.
