Fzzzt, goes something else

On the positive side, the Internet at work was fixed at eleven-something yesterday morning. I still enjoyed the day off, however, and bless M the coworker for covering while I was out.

Now it's the power that's out in the office. Yes, really. It's been a quarter hour so far, give or take, with no news. I've been in communication with Bosslady via cell phone, because all the work-related phone lines are obviously down, and she's going to keep me updated. As of now, all of us who remote in are kicked off the system, but at least we're not stuck with no heat like everyone who's physically in the building! ... Oh yeah, and there's the little matter of the lights being out too, I suppose. :P

I'm beginning to think something's gone awry in Middleton. That, or the universe is telling the whole lot of us we need a vacation!

Definitely so! Once, at a previous job, I walked in at the beginning of the workday and was at the point of starting up my computer and getting on with things as normal when a coworker informed me that hey, the power is out! It turned out we were essentially in the dark. My response? "... Oh! I didn't even realize!" I probably would have done if I'd tried turning on my desktop computer, though. :P The heating and the powered machinery make a difference to me, but the lights? Ehh, nah. XD

The dog in the icon could evidently see well enough to lead me around, so I assume we had some light from windows. He gave no sign of concern, anyway.

It's a real issue for me as I have very poor low light sight.

I'd be holding out a hand for you to guide me which is a nice little irony! :o)

I'd gladly do the leading. Me being the one to lead anyone else around is a novel experience, and one I never tire of. I can just hear myself, and imagine this in an upper Midwest American accent that could be mistaken for Canadian (it's happened quite a few times over the years). "Oh sure, here, hang on a sec, lemme get this travel mug outta the way." Clunk! "Coffee down my sleeve would *not* be a fun way to start a morning! Okay, your cube's three down from mine, right--oop, sorry, I didn't just fling my hair back and clobber you in the face, did I?"
