Warm fuzzy news of the kiddo kind!

My youngest sister had a baby today! Ford Andrew was born at 12:01, because apparently he really wanted to show up on August 4, or something. :) Kid sister has not read Douglas Adams, but Andrew (her husband) evidently has. I'm going to be calling this kid Ford Prefect forever and ever.

How freaking weird is it that I have a nephew, though? All the kids in the current generation are girls, so far as we know, including my middle sister's daughters and three cousins. Future pronoun determination is up to them, of course. Right now? I'm still a little boggled. :)

Congrats on nibling!

I'm kinda wondering if odds of XX vs XY baby is a trait on that chromosome pair. Because Dad's brother's kids are all girls, and Dad's kids are mostly girls whether one counts me as a girl or not, where Dad's sister's kids and all but one of Mom's assorted siblings' kids are boys. (As far as I know, everyone else I'm related to is cis.) So it makes intuitive sense that there's a patrilineal tendency toward XX kids on Dad's side, which is irrelevant re his sister's kids, and a patrilineal tendency toward XY kids on Mom's side, which is irrelevant re her kids and her sister's.

But also my sample size is shit.

All the kids in my stepson's generation are amab. Six of them so far! My wife and I privately joke that some of them will just have to transition to even it out. ;)
