Evidently, my Émilie is a little Anne Shirley, a dash of Edith Keeler, some yours truly, some confident free spirited joy that's all her own, and if Adrian's got any anxiety, it's becoming plain he does NOT get it from Gabriel... She's also got zero haughtiness going on. Unrelated, I think she's demisexual.

One cannot commit egregious acts of OOC for a character we don't know yet, especially when writing an AU. Dammit, self, remember this.

Oh no, Adrien definitely got anxiety from [the fear of disappointing] Gabriel [and consequently being denied even more paternal affection]. This does not rule out a genetic predisposition, though.

... Ooh. That too, yes. Fair point. Nature vs nurture. The predisposition he gets from Émilie, then, but Gabriel makes it waaaay worse. Is it just me, or does Gabriel have that tendency right across the dang board?

Adrian's predisposition toward a moral code is also inherited from his mother, of that I'm sure.

... actually for that I am solidly blaming Takeuchi Naoko. I mean. I don't want to downplay anything Émilie taught Adrien, especially as Adrien's compassion is (iirc repeatedly) noted as both something he shares with her and a point of contention between him and Gabriel. But I'm increasingly certain that Adrien is modeling himself on Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Kamen, 1990s anime edition, and also that's where he got the model of how romantic love works that he's trying to fit himself and Ladybug into.

I'll take your word for who Adrian might be more consciously modeling himself after; I don't know Sailor Moon or Tuxedo Kamen at all. Émilie so very laid the foundation for his compassion and ethics, though, and Gabriel can call the results dramatics if he likes. Poop on him. :P
