Quoth the me, after dodging a pair of signs in the middle of the sidewalk, then asking a passerby just what they were and finding out they were VOTE HERE signs: Oh my gosh, it's February 19!
Yes, I voted. Bad me, I almost forgot! I'm sure people have walked into polling places for elections, primary or otherwise, carrying stranger things than a shoulder bag full of work and other miscellanae, a white cane, and dinner. I can't think of any just now, though. :) Voter 588 at 6:15 this evening, and the worst part was navigating past the loud vacuum cleaner.
Now it can snow. :P

Date: 2019-02-20 06:27 am (UTC)We didn't get a white cane till we were a freshman in high school, and have had pretty shoddy O&M training since then, so we're not always so great at the obstacle detection stuff, but yeah.
We're pretty sure there've been stranger things brought into voting places. This also leaves us with a fellow blind person question.
Does your city/county have polling assistance such as talking ballot machines, or do you require sighted assistance? I'm not sure what California has yet, but we'd love to find out.

Date: 2019-02-22 02:03 am (UTC)Madison does have quite an excellent accessible voting machine setup! I'd never used one until I moved here; in my home county, it was either go vote at the same time as a relative, or ask one of the workers at city hall to read and mark your ballot. It was quite the revelation when I used it for the first time! I'm sure someone could ask a pollworker for an assist here too, if they weren't comfortable with or didn't need the accessible machine.
