I voted!

Voter 2050 in Madison's ward 53 at approximately 6:10 this evening. One busy polling place indeed; I don't honestly think 2016 was as busy. Some genial confusion as people sorted out which line they needed to be in, and where exactly that line was, but mild, easygoing puzzlement was as far as any of it went. Nobody was leaving without voting, nobody was irritated. You know you're politically active when your poll workers know you by name, and vice versa! :)

I'm still waiting on flipping pins and needles for our governor's race call... Argh! At least we keep Baldwin. At *least*! Oh thank God, we keep Baldwin!

Meeeee tooooo! I put it this way, or something like this way (I'm tipsy), to my sister tonight: I wish he'd go jump in the darn lake. He can go be a private citizen after he climbs out.

Look at Minnesota, though! :D

Haha, the idea of a soggy, private-citizen Scott Walker dragging himself out of a lake has made me happy.

Minnesota's done pretty well for itself! Kept our DFL senators, first and/or second Muslim woman (also the first Somali-American) in Congress, I'm so relieved we'll have a Democratic governor (even though I'm not sure he'll be as good as Dayton) and we've flipped the Minnesota House blue too, which should really help; one thing I've learned is that a good state government is a nice buffer against the worst of this federal government.

A blue state government, including a blue governor and second, is really darn marvelous for Minnesota! And yes, I'm super thrilled for Ilhan Omar! :D Ilhan, I believe, translates to inspiration. Accurate and fitting, yeah? And Rashida Tlaib, who shares joint honors on the score as far as Muslim members of Congress go. :) And your (? do you still consider yourself a Minnesotan?) lieutenant governor is a history-maker in herself!

Eh. Private citizen Mr. Walker (with or without a splash in a lake) is fine by me. I wish he and his no ill, as humans. He's not evil on the level of a Nazi or similar ilk. I want him the frak out of my state's politics, but what he does beyond that is up to him. ... The image of his going harmlessly sploosh! in a lake and climbing out is amusing as heck, you're right!
