I've been thinking a lot recently about memory, and loss, and sacrifice ... and how those are tied into everything that makes life worth living. Loving someone or something opens you up to the pain of losing something meaningful, or having it turn out differently than how you wanted, but acting from a perspective centered in love makes everything richer and more nuanced.

I hope that you and your friend are able to remember some of the good things. And I know that *doesn't help.* I don't know what to say that won't be offensive, but I wanted you to know that I think you deserve to have people who will say, okay, you are worth caring about when you have tough times, even while not knowing what to say.
