Note pronouns for Timor-Leste, they/their/theirs. Portugal calls them by a traditionally female name, which is one of two (three, counting a city name used as a common nickname) they answer to. They happily and interchangeably use both a masculine name, which reflects Indonesian influence, and this feminine one, which is Portuguese. Anne is Rhode Island, Afonso is Portugal.
