Newbury Place welcomes you
Aug. 14th, 2010 02:42 pmOr welcomes me, anyhow, and that's for sure. :)
I am fully moved out of the old apartment and into the new one. Yaaaaaay! XD Thursday was understandably insane, between the heat, the humidity, the packing and hauling and cleaning, the unpacking and sorting, and the general snappiness that comes with doing all the above on the hottest day of the year. but it was finished by seven that evening, and for that, I say thank you, bright deity(s). And whew! Yesterday it was all over but the Internet cable-ing, and that happened around two in the afternoon. Quark is so sharding old that he doesn't detect wireless networks, but once I get a new laptop (and that is coming in the near future, I'm actively looking) I'll be able to disconnect the plug at will. and yes, I called my wireless network Kirienth. I was tempted to call it Tesla after the professor, for his predictions of wireless connectivity, but Kiri got the honors in the end.
It's amazing what little things you notice when you move from one place to another, especially when the new place is a distinct step up from the old one. There's no mildewy smell in the halls and staircases here. There's no rust on the faucets here. I actually have room to move around, as my bedroom isn't smack in the middle of my living space anymore. No offense intended to Sarah and her maintenance staff, because they did as well as they possibly could with what they had, but the new place is a definite improvement, and it shows. Maybe it means something that I've had a name for this flat sticking in my head since before I was out of the old one. Color me a little mad, or maybe just a little weird, but this place has already told me its name. Go figure. :)
Expect further updates as I settle in. :)
Oh, shards, it's fourteen August. Not only is it historically significant in the extreme, but at least for me, it's forever linked to the kids escaping the academy and getting to Taos, now. :)
Right, going to get a coffee before I make another random subject-to-subject leap.
