chanter1944: a Pringles can with the words 'you can't write just one' written across it (drabbles are like pringles)

As if I didn't already have a headful of this particular fandom thanks to going fic-and-post sniffing over the past week or so. I get to Waupun today, walk into the living room after we've all had dinner, and what do I hear from the television?

Oh hullo, Band of Brothers. Oh specifically hullo, Breaking Point. ... Oh, lordy.

I've just seen everything from The Breaking Point up to the end, and oh, jeez. Hearing Joe Toye saying "I've gotta get up, I've gotta get up, I need my helmet--" oh, man. My stomach did a queasy flip. And Jackson during the Last Patrol... oh, man. That was hard to watch, and I can't even see. Truth be told, I was really, really frakking glad I couldn't see at quite a few points there. You can likely guess where. Good lord, but I'm keyed up now. I caught myself going "Aww, Tab," at least twice, and "Aww, Shifty," at the end, and I'm not the least bit sorry about either. Now that I think about it, I know I went "Aww, Luz," once there too. And yes, I wanted to hug Gene several times during all that. Somebody somewhere online--I don't know who--called him Easy's angel, and they weren't wrong. I'm not sure who this was either, but somebody else online mentioned that during Last Patrol, as soon as Gene puts his hands on him, Jackson immediately calms down and cooperates. Somehow I don't see, say, Spina getting quite the same reaction. Or anyone getting quite the same reaction, honestly. Blimey. I'm so predictable, aren't I? I expect there's going to be mun-to-pup character bleed going on again if I try and finish the OOMery I've got going for Sariel tonight, but considering the reason, I don't know that it'll show terribly much. Sheez, I don't think I'll be sleeping for a while yet, as wired and full of scenes from those eps as as I am now. and I'm supposed to be up at six tomorrow morning. Again, oh, man. :)

Before I go any further, I just have to say that a week ago, give or take a day, I heard the exact same song the choir sang for the troops on a Sherlock Holmes radio mystery circa roughly 1945. I will never, ever hear that song the same way again, ever. I doubt I'll forget it anytime soon either. Holmes's violin, Lily Rainer's voice and that choir... oh, blimey.

Anyhow. Good lord, Speirs is frakking scary! I've been calling him Scary Speirs in my head all night, and I don't see that changing. Why hullo, creepy ass scene at the end of Points. Brrrr. Maybe they never heard Tercius deny anything because he'd be lying if he tried. Yeurgh. At least he didn't pull the trigger. I knew he didn't going into this, but I still had the maaaajor shiveries during that scene anyway. Scary Speirs, guh. I don't like that man.

I'm not even going to talk about Why We Fight, because it gave me the crawlies and the shudders like nobody's business. Three guesses why, and the first two don't count. On an only tangentially related note: Yes, Blood On the Risers still makes me shiver, not to mention getting stuck in my head all night. Thanks, boys. Heh.

I *did* laugh at the scene with Luz, Perco and the fraulein who wasn't taking yes for an answer. "she smacked me in the mouth." Heh. Bad luck there, Luz. Perco, Luz and Bull yakking while out on patrol made me snicker too. "Bull, smack him for me?" *thwack* "Thank you." Snickersnicker. I do have to say though, both times Winters jumped into the lake I went, "Ooooh jeez, are you nuts? That's gotta be freezing!" Better him than me. Brrr.

... I'm not particularly coherent just now, so forgive all the rambling. In short, oooh wow, BoB. And ow. And oh, jeez. And... dang, that was rather intense to watch at a stretch. I missed Bastogne, which on one hand was a bummer, but... really may have been for the best, all things considered. I think I'll be staying up a while yet, at least until I'm slightly less keyed up and can attempt the sleep thing with a reasonable chance of success.

One last thing. Am I right in guessing that quite a lot of the balcony scene's squee-inducing bits were more visual than audible? I think I missed something. Not that drunk!officers weren't great, mind. I just... think something went over my head.

Oh, and whoever's idea it was to leave that third German prisoner on the riverbank? No cookie for you. You can have a bird, though. *flips the birdie* Babe, I doubt it was you, but if it was, you still get flipped off. You're great and all, but good gosh.

Uh. Anyhow. that's me all rambled out. I think I *will* have a go at finishing that OOMery now. If anyone read through all that lot, I apologize for all the babbling. Disjointed it was, and how. And I call myself a writerly type. Snicker.

I thiiiink I officially have a new fandom. ahem. Yay? :) Poor flist, stuck listening to me go on. Sorry, folken.
