Logical Deductions
Author: Chanter
Fandom: Star Trek TOS, shortly before The Undiscovered Country
Pairings: This could be perceived as very mildly Valeris/Cartright or Valeris/Saavik, but neither one is how I intended it. However you feel like seeing it.
Rating: G I think?
Summary: Written from Saavik’s POV. Oh the subtleties of betrayal...
Dedicated to Kim.
209 words, a bit more than a double drabble.
Disclaimor: 'Tisn't mine, this universe isn't. *sniff* darn it, I wish it were.

I know it.

Watching them, listening to them, shifting their languages and analyzing the gestures that pass between them, learning their expressions all over again--I know it. Witnessing them, thinking of them, puzzling out their cryptic interactions and living vicariously through their skin-to-skin connections, green on green, mind on schooling mind again and again, endlessly--I know it. Calculating the lift of his single eyebrow, the precise carriage of her head and shoulders, the exact angle at which she turns when she’s walking away--I know it.

She is his student.

As was I his student.

Measuring the split-second silences between words spoken into channels meant for private use, counting the uncountable beats in the rhythm of fingers against antique keys, memorizing the minute alterations in pitch between phrases when she says “... to your mind,” and when she says “admiral,” undeniably--I know it. Judging the faintest of emerald flushes against her translucent skin, detecting the undetectable light that warms her eyes, perceiving through air against flesh against air that her pulse has quickened at the sound of heavy heels against the corridor tiles, beyond a shadow of a doubt--I know it.

She is his student.

As was I his student.

But Cartright is her teacher.
