DW appears to be back up and rolling, after an evening of persistent backend fetch errors. What even was going on with that, does anyone know?

I note that, only just now, having had a glass of wine and about a quarter of a second one, did the idea of the fetching of one's backend jokes occur to me. *amused facepalm*

No news on what it was yet; it's another three minutes before I have to turn the lights out and stop refreshing my Reading page to see if dw_maintenance has updated with the news, but I'm told that the Twitter/X account didn't say anything about it.

I'm just glad it's back! I'm still getting a short delay now and again, but that's much better than not loading at all.

Occasional slow loading is far, faaaaaaar preferable to no loading at all, so very agreed.

I'd have checked the twitterly end of things, and I did try, but it appears that you now must log in over there to access info from any feed, and I'm hesitant to give Elongated Muskmelon the satisfaction. I hesitate to log in over there even to send best wishes to the Golden Ratio's fuzzy creatures or the Herd House's different but equally lovely fuzzy and scaled critters, and that says a thing or two.

This comment also says a thing or two, mainly that Chanter's a wee bit tipsy and should go curl up. :P

You can use Nitter to view tweets. I think Nitter updates in real time? I'm not positive. At any rate, it doesn't show a tweet about tonight's outage.

Yeah, I had a Twitter account very briefly, for the sole purpose of claiming an item from a fandom auction. I have no idea if I can even access it anymore, and honestly don't usually care to try, with situations like this being among the few exceptions. I'm quite intrigued by misbegotten's suggestion, though!

I'm late in responding, eek, but thank you very much! I'd not heard of nitter (I initially thought it was spelled knitter, and am glad I double checked) until you mentioned it. What an excellent workaround. :)
