I... can't remember discovering fandom. I remember when I discovered modern SF; spring quarter of my freshman year I finally got into an actual English class (after AP'ing out of Comp) and Foundation's Edge was on the reading list. After that I went and started devouring everything Asimov, then everything related to it... but I can't remember my first con. It was probably Dragon, but I just know that by 1990 I was a regular attendee...
(I can't remember learning to read either. I have memories before I learnt to read, and I have memories of being able to read, but none of being read *to*, of learning letters, just somewhere in the summer of 1970 things made sense. )
