Having the apartment you're actually going to be moving into turn out, on a trip over there for measurement-of-space purposes, to be not at all like the one you'd been shown and, in fact, to be an awkwardly-shaped space with tissue paper walls and slapdash shelves in the middle of the room=:( and WTF?

Having a current landlady who, after breaking the bad but not unexpected news to you that yes, your current place is already rented out for this coming year, says 'Call me in October or November when renewals start, I can probably get you your old place back'=:) :) :) and she is such a sweetheart, seriously

So yeah. Rotten situations are go, but it's for a year. I can deal with a year. ... I hope. Heh. And then I'm very well probably coming right back to Newbury Place of my own volition.
