new orange!verse fic for sponsorship

Or at least there will be, once I get it added to the sponsorable works post. We've already seen some of what Michael's given her. 'Thy Father And...' is a more detailed glimpse of what Kendra's inherited from the other side of her family. This one's lyrical backstory, as well as a little bit of a love note to my own mother. Sorry I couldn't get home this weekend, Mom. I need the time to myself for mental health, and thank you for respecting that when I told you so, but I still feel a little bad we couldn't all get together.

Whoops! Where did that come from?

Actually, I know precisely where that came from. Finished a second orange!verse fic just now, and up it goes for sponsorship. This one's been several months in the percolating, and I just got unstuck. 'Jammed Transmissions' tells half a dozen refugee stories, as heard by the Canadians party to their telling.

For information if thinking about sponsoring this one: It is d-a-r-k! It's also a little bit hopeful, at least if I did it right, but it's not at all an easy read. As ysabetwordsmith would say, warn all the things. It contains instances of blatant homophobia and bigotry, racism, police violence in both implication and flat-out description, references to some very messed up societal expectations about work-life balance and usefulness, attempted (and failed) disability erasure and abuse, and strong hints at past emotional mistreatment all over the place. Sharding well warn ALL the things.

It does bear saying that the current environment for every one of the storytellers in the piece is supportive.
