top ten signs
Feb. 1st, 2006 02:51 pmThat you're reading a chanter fanfiction.
1. There's lots of character exploration and getting inside characters' thought processes--Geordi, Wade, Valeris.
2. Sentences run on and on... and on and on, and the lyrical sometimes degenerates into the laughable.
3. References to synaesthetia are worked into the text, "I wanted red on gold, red and gold," or anything like that.
4. Veiled darkness shows up in the storyline--icky stuff (TM) happens but the worst of the details aren't generally spelled out, though they are strongly hinted at.
5. Little-used pairings take center stage, or seldom-seen characters are written; Geordi-Leah, Valeris-Cartright, Lela Dax, Yeoman Tamura
6. the details of images or character descriptions are sometimes blurred from canon--blame that on the blindness factor.
7. There's a Geordi-Leah pairing... it's darn likely it's one of mine then. :)
8. Most of the darkness that isn't veiled ends up in characters' thoughts.
9. the piece is a missing scene, or a missing layer to a scene that was aired--Geordi's thoughts during Conundrum, or Valeris's reaction at the end of the Undiscovered Country.
10. The piece is character backstory--the whole arc of fics dealing with Leah's less than stellar relationship with her husband and her eventual divorce.
Found this meme wwhile I was sniffing around randomly. Color me weird. :)
