Eeeeevil! I swear! *expletives to prove that point deleted*
sunday afternoon early, I take the laptop off its docking stationy... thing in order to work somewhere that I could enjoy the *beautiful* day we were having. And I end up with a handful of poetry to show for it. I finish with that since I get horribly stuck imagery-wise, set the still undocked laptop down on my chair and go to do school-related things. I end up falling asleep, and when I wake up the laptop's battery's dead. Uh-oh, but I think anyway not too scary. Just dock it and in a few hours when it charges it'll be good to go. Right?
Wrong! I only find out later that when a laptop battery goes poofle you can lose your settings. Of course I didn't know that Sunday evening, so I'm trying all sorts of things to fix it, and of course with it out of commission like it is, I can't read the screen since, y'know, no screenreader. Monday morning I take it in to CSD, we call Dell and I discover it's an exceedingly simple fix that I never tried!
And it works again! Weeee!
But that's why I wasn't around on SC Sunday beyond maybe noon, and that's also why Laila Amiri didn't make it to the Celestra... er,
singeruvsongs, that one's for you.
and here's the results of my crazy weekend, though I won't put anything school-related in here since it'd be dang boring. These are two drabbles, and I'm going to do something with them though I dunno what, probably post them on ff.net. Maybe. The first one is Ro Laren, the second one is Tasha Yar.
Oh, just so it doesn't look weird, borhyas are Bajoran spirits of a sort.
Laren
"So what are you again?"
Celestial.
The one who never believed in borhyas, who still wore the earrings but forgot the faith that guided millions, seeking a revenge so personal it ran collectively through us and I missed it anyway. Celestial.
Defiant.
Auburn and brown, explosive fire power in a five-foot package with military instincts in-born and guerilla games learned as hide-and-seek to a Terran child. Defiant.
Unexpected.
Better than, brighter than, warmer than, sharing humanity nobody thought I had. Conventional, or maybe not. Unexpected.
Forgotten.
Here but never there, scarce but never gone. Elemental.
Laren
Of the family Ro.
Tasha
She is sunlight.
She's cloudy when she's upset, and when the sirens blare and shatter everyone's slumber, she is wreathed in clouds.
She is summer.
She gets hazy, and when someone insults green diluted blood or asks her where her parents are, she storms.
She is silver.
And when it's down to the last and it's do or die and do your duty, she does.
She is crystal.
She's recorded, and when it's all over for everyone but the ones she left behind when she went down black to light, evil to imagined evil, she tells.
And she is gold.
Hey, Sunday had to have *some* positive results.
