A darn long while!

Okie, rambling time. This's all about the first social... anything I've done in *quite* some time. Yes, I'm proving myself a geek here. A geek with depression no less. But here 'tis.

Okie, so tonight Julie of the infamous pizza seeking incident comes and taps on my door and says "Hey Charlie, what're you doing with the rest of the night?" And I'm like... "Nothing?" I couldn't say hanging about RPing because no one else in this hall that I know of does that beyond D and D. So she asks why don't I come along to Jitters, this little coffee house thingie in the basement of a neighboring hall. We'd both been there two summers ago for the forum we'd been attending and I'd later worked for, but I at least hadn't been down there while it was a coffee house rather than a gathering hall for all of us student types. So I said sure.

As it turned out, Julie and I went, Julie's roommate Stephanie went, Julie's roommate from last year who I ironically knew but didn't recognize Stacey went, and Cayla AKA C-squared from two floors up went. So it's one big cluster of us walking into the basement of Welles East and into Jitters, and my swiftly being initiated into a social experiment Julie and Stacey were trying. The two of them had the random but brilliant idea of gauging the friendliness/receptivity of people passing by by saying the simple "Hello, hey, hi, how's it going," whichever as somebody walked through. Early on it was decided peopleses in Welles weren't all that friendly. :)

We ended up getting these heavenly Oreo whipped cream espresso drinks that I forget the name of but it wasn't exactly a clean name, sitting in the adjoining room squished into chairs because the audio in the place was impossibly loud and we couldn't hear ourselves talk and Stacey had just had jaw surgery so was having difficulty speaking anyway. I swear, the topics five girls can get onto in one night!

they ranged from where each one of us would travel if given the chance, (South Africa, India, anywhere in Spanish-speaking America, the European mainland and Australia if you were wondering, and you can guess mine was South Africa) our perceptions of faith and organized religion, and how the heck to bring up your interest in a boy of a different faith and not seem horribly forward. yes I brought that up, and yes I did mean trying to tell Ali I have starry eyes. Nobody was sure, beyond Julie telling me to just *say* it and get it done with. Eep! Easier said than done believe me, I'd have said it a year ago if it were *that* simple.

The night ended with a few of us getting second drinks, me with this cream saver fruity thingie that turned up raspberry and was heaven till about halfway through when it started to make me feel sickish. We carted everything back to the dorms to escape the audio and to get in before midnight. On the way we all concluded that there are far more interesting things to do at university than get hopelessly drunk. Seeing as none of us drink anyway, go figure we'd say that.

Alright, so this is random. Random, random, random and the espresso is still affecting my typing abilities. I was right when I said earlier that I was going to be impossibly zingy!

Well anyway, we might make this a weekly trip, if our schedules work. Now off to write the descriptions of Moonsweep's wingleader and 'second because I've promised them to Tel and it's unfair of me to keep her waiting.

And as this song title and artist prove, the Dutch have some of the *coolest* names I've ever heard in my life. Kimlianne, I love it absolutely. That just *rings* of a story in progress. Maybe I should write it... or use it. Ooh!

My husband spent a couple of years in the Netherlands...and I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, 'cause he's not home much, but I guess if he is and you want to hear more Dutch names, I could bug him. :)
