Indeed. That's what I call 12:30 in the evening wee!

Wired on a little too much capuccino (so much so that it took me three tries to spell that right) and listening to BBC Radio3. Well actually I just turned that off.

I have the inspiration for my new dramatic interp piece for this year. I think... I may end up double entered, one a poetry piece and one a D.I. We'll see.

It was actually Radio3 gave me the inspiration for the poetry-ish piece. I was listening to something out of the on location archive now that I've got realplayer back, and of *course* being the desert blues nut that I am, it was Andy Kershaw in Mali. And I happened to click on the recording of Ali Farka Toure on the river boat going down the Niger River. Instant inspiration! I'll maybe post a snippet of the finished product poem in here.... that is, when I finish it. And here's hoping that the other Ali that I know, who incidentally is from an entirely different part of the world but makes me blush all the same (if for quite the different reason) doesn't see it and think it's about him. If I ever write something about him, I'll show it to him directly. *gulp* courage Charlie, courage. Yeah right.

Anyhow, the earlier part of the day was eventful in that my father drove down and brought a few food type thingies from home and took me out to lunch. Yay! Decent food off campus! We ended up at this little Asian buffet in Janesville that I never noticed when I was living there. And I was mocked by my dear dad for having the courage to try spicy baby octopus. Hey, it was pretty good! It tasted like a scallop, only with some zingy chili sauce that stayed with me the twenty miles back to uni. I said "Hey, people eat it in Korea all the time. Why not me?"

So anyway, I'm off. To try not to spill any more capuccino and to dream of Ali Farka Toure appearing out of the darkness up the gangway of a riverboat on the Niger and saying "I am very happy to see you!"

Yeah, I'm weird.

At least now I know my inspiration music for tomorrow's flight. Now if I could just get over my jitters! eeee!

And no that's not the capuccino talking. I've had jitters about this one since I scheduled it. It's probably the last flight for this database and it's me coming off a wilder than usual last that I goofed up canon on. So eeee!
