As for the message from Chanter: My laptop lives! :) Wheeeeew! The nearest Miles the marvelous tech person can figure, it was a fan issue that caused a partial crash, and left the machine essentially comatose. The familiar radio battery trick of letting the capacitor drain, then plugging back in and charging up, seems to have fixed whatever the heck happened. At least, everything restarted as it should've. I say again, wheeeeeew! I'm under instructions to monitor for any fan issues in the next few days. Dang, that was bizarre!

Thank the lord for excellent tech people, easily-solved problems, radio tricks put to new uses, and USB drives acting as backup file storage! That last one, especially. Not that the others aren't super important - they are! but holy cow. USB drive now has a name, though I'm keeping it quiet. I don't want to jinx anything.

Fan issues aren't fun. I've got a solid state drive, so my fan rarely ever kicks on at all, but some of the old-timers in this house would totally agree with you about the fan troubles. Either way, I'm celebrating. I'd offer you a cookie, but uh that means something different for us computers. :P

Oh nice, you name yours too? I know quite a few people, both in local space and 'net spaces, who do that. I've named mine ever since college.

*laughs* Yes! She totally bribed Death with pizza. Or, if she had the occasion to meet Sir Terry's Death, she bribed him with some of this city's fantastic curry.

... Dang, now I want excellent curry. I may have to make a run downtown on Friday night.
