Re visual cues: I suppose that is a thing, isn't it? I completely forget about that sometimes! I also know that, when the singers are in costume on set, backstage, etc, they're not allowed to talk to other people! This makes total sense, since their speaking voices are technologically altered once they're conversing with panelists, the better to maintain their disguises. It would be *ridiculously* hard for me to not talk to crew/other singers/whoever, were I on that show.
