Ooh cool!

Actual etymology of 'dormouse' seems to connect to 'dormant', since these little rodents can apparently hibernate six months of the year. If you want to keep the pun, though, by all means keep the double O.

I might play with the pun when the name is being created, even. I've headcanoned that Rena Rouge has at least a little English, since she twigs to another, as yet unrevealed superhero name [hecka spoilers for the alterna-verse this way lie!] being a case of wordplay, so maybe she questions the origin/meaning of Dormouse/Doormouse and Mylène runs with it?

Foreign language study starts in French schools when they start middle school equivalent. What year the show says they're in contradicts itself, but their whole class has definitely already had at least two years of a first foreign language. And at least one year of a second.

Most French students, that first foreign language is English. Marinette's definitely is, else why would "Ladybug" and "Lucky Charm" be English phrases in the French dub? I don't know if we have any solid reason to believe Alya's is or isn't anything in particular, but English is definitely plausible.

Ooh, good to know. Also you've got a valid point re English phrases in the French dub. With Rena Rouge (and also Firewall, actually), I was going off Alya and Nora's Caribbean connections and the likelihood of bilingual or trilingual English/French/Creole knowledge, if not full fluency in English.

Émilie, by the way, I'm headcanoning as having very iffy English at best. I will get to answers for her, by the way.
