I have been flu shotted

Got a phone call from my pharmacy today, because I requested they give me a jangle when flu shots came in. I asked if there would be someone available to give the ol' poke in the arm this evening, there definitely was, so I zipped over there after work and, with very little fuss, did the thing for another year. Less chance of me catching the horrible flu and/or, more importantly for my conscience, *passing* the horrible flu to someone, is more than fine by little me. I'm on our city's bus system a dozen times a week on average. I have no way of knowing if the person next to me is immunosuppressed, or 90 years old and fragile by virtue of, well, being 90, or carrying a sleeping infant, or... and better safe than complicit in avoidable awfulness.

And yeah, as I put it to a friend of mine earlier today, better a slightly sore arm than five days of misery.

When I got influenza proper, back when I was young and healthy,

it was EIGHT WEEKS of misery. 7-10 days acute, then 8 weeks of post-flu exhaustion, breathlessness, and Depression.

Good on you for doing the thing! ^_^

Thanks.

My experience is not that unusual - most of what people call "flu" is a bad cold virus.

True influenza virus is much nastier.
