There's a feeling of RUSHING in this, first her rushing into the new activity, listening almost at random, and then things RUSH over her, many rush past her, not yet understood.
But I love it. The static comes across as a character in its own right, an obstacle, a tease, a distraction... It creates more awareness of interaction, even though she's largely listening and thinking.
Beneath all of that are the words broadcast; the snapshots of a world which is very, very plausible, and far too close to be comfortable.
